IP Blocking
Learn more about IP blocking, why it could be so advantageous and when to use it.
From time to time you may have to block specific third parties from accessing your Internet sites. There are a number of automatic bots which crawl the Internet, for example, and generate fake visits and online traffic. In addition, there are spammers that leave links to questionable sites as comments to site articles. This kind of things could drastically undermine your hard work, simply because no one likes to visit a site with many fake comments, plus the increased traffic from both spammers and bots may generate high load on the web server in which your website is hosted, which can result in the site not working correctly. One of the best solutions in cases like this is to block the IP addresses that produce the fake traffic, in order to be certain that the visits to your site are real.

IP Blocking in Shared Hosting
If you purchase a
shared hosting from us, you shall be able to see in depth traffic statistics for all your websites and if you notice that many of the visits to any of them aren't legitimate, you may block the IP addresses which have created the most traffic through our IP Blocking tool. The interface is incredibly simple - pick the needed domain or subdomain from a drop-down list, then type the IP address that you'd like to block and save the change. All the addresses that you've blacklisted will show up in the same exact section of the CP, allowing you to always remove any one of them and allow it to access your website again. You could block entire IP ranges via the tool also - you simply need to leave 1 or 2 octets from the address blank. For instance, entering 1.2.3. will block all 254 IPs from 1.2.3.1 to 1.2.3.255.

IP Blocking in Semi-dedicated Servers
Our
semi-dedicated server accounts come with a quite simple-to-use IP blocking tool, that will enable you to prohibit individual IPs or even entire networks from accessing your websites with onlya few mouse clicks and you shall not have any difficulties to do that even if that is your first web hosting account. Once you check out the IP Blocking section of the Hepsia Control Panel, you will simply have to choose the domain or subdomain in question from a drop-down list, then enter the IP address within a box which you'll see there and you will be ready. To prohibit the access for a whole network, you have to leave one or more octets blank. For example, if you type in 123.123. and don't input anything inside the third and fourth positions, our server will deny requests from all IP addresses between 123.123.1.1 and 123.123.255.255.
